Avoiding people, places, and things is by no means just a cliché. This is real, and as people in recovery we must take this very seriously. Due to the nature of the Disease, we have a tendency to get really wrapped up in feelings, most of which were, and are still created by a false reality. It is up to us to change our reality so that we can change the way we feel about everything, and everyone. In order to do this, we must constantly live in our new and ever evolving realities. It is true that we will become like whatever or whoever we behold on a continual basis. So what people, places and things do we behold? We must make sure that we are surrounding ourselves and associating with those who are striving for the same things that we are striving for, in this way our recovery is protected and the destiny we desire will remain within reach.
